It's a Hair thing

Me and my hair aren't really best buds. Never have, never will. You may not know this, but back in the days, I had really long thick curly hair. Because of the big volume and the frizz & curls I always put it in a knot. Day in day out. The first three years of high school in a ponytail, the last three years in a knot. I was quite the hair chameleon (NOT). I was so frustrated about my hair. I have always dreamt of long wavy hair that the pretty girls at school have. Yep, big hair problems and I hated it.

And then, a historical day came. On Saturday the 13th of November 2011, I decided to cut my hair short (after two years of thinking of it). Not hair-on-the-shoulders short, I'm talking REAL short.
I just said the magical words: "cut it off, all off" and the hairdresser did his job (lol, I said these words in my dreams). I was quite pleased with the result, even though it felt pretty weird. All that volume I was talking about was GONE. The comments were rather on the positive side, although my brother called me a lesbian (so typical) and my best friend almost had a heart attack.

But now it's the 8th of June 2012, I haven't cut my hair in ten weeks (which is quite long for short heads) and I'm stuck with a dilemma: cut it again or let it grow a bit longer.

Lemme explain. Lately I'm into the messy Alexa Chung kinda hair. It's more messy and wavy + healthy, since I straighten my hair every day (I know that ain't good for the hair, but it's that or coupe caniche). But I don't know whether it would work for me. These girls have hair stylists coming over every day and I'm just stuck with my hair (read: not really handy with hair).

It-girl Alexa Chung (gorgeous hair)

Scarlett Johansson

Miley Cyrus (don't really know whether I like or hate her)

Or I can go for option number two and cut it again. But this time I want to do something special, maybe I would do a little "undercut" at the left side of my hair. Don't really know whether it's still a trend or not, but I don't care.

Amelle Berrabah (LOVE the hair)

Or I can go for a more safe haircut, the one's that Ashlee Simpson is rocking nowadays (the girl is pretty with everything, especially red hair)

Very clean and sophisticated

What do you think about it? Would you go for short or longer? Or do you have any other tips?
I would love to hear from you! And if you know a good hairdresser in West Flanders (Belgium) or in the region of Ghent, lemme know! I'm really looking for a good hairdresser who understands my hair.

And last but not a least, a picture of me and my old updo. Picture taken in Capri, last year.

My German book is waiting for me. Tschüss!
xoxo
